Jack Ma: The Perfect “Journey to the West” Team

Jack Ma once said that the “Journey to the West” team is the most perfect team. Many leaders are like Tang Sanzang—full of words and sometimes lost, but unwavering in their ideals. Sun Wukong may be annoying and self‑important, but he is immensely capable. Zhu Bajie prefers to take it easy, yet remains upbeat and optimistic. Sha Seng is the ideal worker—he doesn’t talk about ideals; he simply shows up and does the job. Together, these four form China’s most perfect team. Do you agree?

Our Group as a “Journey to the West” Team

I feel that our moxibustion group mirrors this “Journey to the West” team.

The “Tang Sanzang” of Our Group

On moxibustion matters, I have seven years of experience and an unshakeable conviction. Some even tease me, “You’re like Tang Sanzang—nagging, rambling, always preaching how great moxibustion is!” Well, I’ll gladly be that Tang Sanzang.

The “Sun Wukong” of Our Group

We also have our Sun Wukong: talented, knowledgeable, hardworking, generous, and optimistic—so physically robust that they offer valuable health insights. Yet in real‑world moxibustion practice they can be overly confident and critical, though they remain fiercely loyal to our “Tang Sanzang.”

The “Zhu Bajie” of Our Group

Then there’s the Zhu Bajie type: naturally cheerful and healthy, but not consistent with moxibustion. They’ll try it now and then—often hoping for weight loss—but give up at the first sign of doubt. They oscillate between “Does this really work for me?” and “I’m done with moxibustion.” Yet they stay active in the group, questioning and debating, embodying moxibustion’s skeptical spirit.

The “Sha Seng” of Our Group

Finally, we have our Sha Seng: diligent and dependable. They may never speak up in the chat, but they quietly practice moxibustion every day, never wavering or giving up.

The Eighty-One Trials on the Moxibustion Journey

Like the eighty‑one tribulations in “Journey to the West,” moxibustion brings its own challenges—blisters might appear, like the White‑Bone Demon returning again and again. Faced with these trials, our Sun Wukong and Sha Seng tackle them rationally, while our Tang Sanzang calmly chants sutras. Each obstacle overcome brings us one step closer to success. Our Zhu Bajie types often wonder, “How long must I moxibust?” just as they question if they’ll ever reach the Western Paradise.

Moxibustion Is a Spiritual Cultivation

Just as the pilgrimage to fetch the scriptures is a journey of self‑cultivation, so is moxibustion. Thank you all for traveling this path with me—now, which role do you play?
