To guarantee premium quality, our annual mugwort leaf procurement begins right after the Dragon Boat Festival. For moxa sticks production, older leaves are superior as they yield more fluffy fibers and enhanced therapeutic effects. Leaves harvested during the Dragon Boat Festival itself are ideal for essential oil extraction and medicinal use.
Two critical control points in procurement:
Moisture content must be low
Stems must be completely removed, retaining only pure leaves

The procurement season starts as early as 5 AM daily, with deliveries ranging from small batches (50-100 lbs) to full tractor-trailers. During peak seasons, my mornings begin with bleary-eyed openings of the warehouse. After two weeks of early rising, even my night owl tendencies couldn’t handle it – my father insisted I return to Guangzhou to avoid illness.
