Product Introduction: Premium Aged Moxa Wool

Premium Moxa Wool from moxiherb

Strictly Selected from the Origin of Chinese Mugwort

moxiherb sources its moxa wool from Qichun, located at 30°N latitude—renowned as the hometown of premium Chinese mugwort. Our own plantation benefits from ample rainfall and abundant sunlight, resulting in mugwort rich in essential oils and flavonoids. The wool produced from this high-quality herb offers a more balanced heat and superior penetration. We harvest the first crop around the Dragon Boat Festival, hand-remove impurities, and carefully select only the finest leaves.

Naturally Aged for Milder Heat

After harvesting, the mugwort leaves are air-dried in the shade and aged for over three years. This process reduces harshness while preserving the herb’s warming properties, ensuring a gentler and more comfortable moxibustion experience.

Fine Craftsmanship, Superior Moxa

Only aged leaves are used to produce our moxa wool. Through multiple traditional processes, we preserve the wool’s natural texture and active components.

Processing Steps:

1. Harvesting

We harvest around the Dragon Boat Festival when the yang energy is at its peak, making the herb ideal for moxibustion.

2. Sun-Drying

Our mugwort is dried under natural sunlight to best preserve its potency.

3. Aging

Dried leaves are stored in cool, ventilated warehouses for long-term aging to stabilize their properties.

4. Wool Extraction

Our patented extraction process reduces impurities while maintaining high active content. The result is soft, fine moxa wool with excellent penetration.

Quality You Can Feel

Soft and Fluffy Texture

Fine as cotton, our moxa wool is light, elastic, and pure.

Forms Easily, Stays Intact

Fluffs into a solid shape with a single pinch—no crumbling.

Mild Smoke, Natural Scent

Aged and unadulterated, our wool produces a gentle aroma with no harshness or eye irritation.

Warm Heat, Deep Penetration

Burns evenly with a gentle heat that penetrates deep without overwhelming the skin.

Fine, Pale Ash

Leaves behind soft, pale ash—free of residue or clumps.

Understanding Moxa Wool Quality

Our moxa wool is produced by repeatedly refining aged mugwort leaves. More rounds of sieving result in purer, finer, and more elastic wool. Higher purity means gentler heat, less smoke, and a more comfortable experience—though it burns slightly faster.

Knowledge Tip:
A 10:1 ratio means 10 kg of mugwort leaves are used to make 1 kg of moxa wool.
A 35:1 ratio uses 35 kg of leaves for 1 kg of moxa, making it finer and richer in effective compounds. The higher the ratio, the better the moxibustion quality.

Custom blends available upon request.

How to Use Moxa Wool

1. Direct Moxibustion

Recommended for experienced users. Roll the wool into small balls (2–3cm) and place directly on acupoints.

2. Ginger-Slice Moxibustion

Cut fresh ginger into 0.5cm-thick slices. Pierce with toothpicks to create vents, place on acupoints, then place moxa balls on top and light.

3. With Moxibustion Tools

Ideal for use with portable moxa holders or jars.
