Today, a friend invited me to join a moxibustion discussion group and share my thoughts on how to distinguish between good and bad moxa sticks. Although I was busy, I made time out of respect for her trust — after all, not many people have been working with moxa for as many years as I have. I guess you could call me a professional in this field.
I answered questions objectively, without any intention of promoting my own products. Ironically, it was the group members who praised the moxa sticks I produce. I rarely say “mine are the best” — because saying it means nothing. Only the ones who’ve used them and felt the difference can say they’re good.
But unexpectedly, my enthusiasm was met with suspicion:
“Do you even understand moxibustion?”
“Have you heard of Ma’s method? Fan’s? Xie Xiliang’s?”
Of course I know the names. I’ve read about all these schools — I skimmed their approaches but didn’t dive deep. Every lineage has its strengths and limitations. But if you truly want to help others, you need to study the root of traditional medicine: the meridians, qi and blood, yin and yang.
I prefer to re-read the Huangdi Neijing and texts about the human meridian system. I’ve had many doctors give me advice over the years — yet my condition worsened. The one who truly understands my body… is me.
If others had really been able to help me, I would never have walked this path of self-healing through moxibustion.
It Was Never Easy — But I Kept Going
No one told me to stick with moxibustion in the beginning.
All I got was doubt and ridicule. People said I was self-harming, self-deluding.
But my pain and my healing — that’s something only I can understand.
The more I studied traditional medicine, the more humble I became. The more I met other practitioners, the more I realized how little I knew. So I became cautious. I can use my own body to experiment — but never someone else’s.
What I do is simple: I share my experience. I guide others to feel and understand their own bodies. If I don’t know something, I simply say, I don’t know.
No great physician has ever claimed they can cure all diseases.
If they could, wouldn’t they all live to 100? Most of them didn’t.
So I don’t need to prove that I’m amazing.
I’ve just walked this path longer than most. I’ve handled more moxa sticks, used more tools, done more hands-on practice. That doesn’t make me an expert — it makes me someone with experience.
I don’t claim to “cure” anything. But I did use moxibustion to bring balance back to my body after years of suffering from ulcerative colitis.
I Only Share What’s Real
As a business owner — someone who built a factory to produce moxa — I never expect everyone to love my products.
People aren’t perfect, and neither are products. There will always be critiques — and I accept that with peace of mind.
All I can do is stay honest. Just like I present myself truthfully, I present my products truthfully: real storage years, real ratios, no exaggeration. My workshop, my warehouse — what I’ve shown so far is just a small glimpse. The scale is growing steadily, but I don’t feel the need to prove it.
I want my products to speak for themselves.
Yesterday, someone asked again:
“Is your moxa really good?”
I didn’t want to answer. I simply said:
“Try it for $30. If it’s not good, you only lost $30. If it is good, you’ll stop worrying about where to find high-quality moxa.”
Because in the end — only experience tells the truth.
If you haven’t used it, anything I say is just words.
If you have used it, your experience will speak louder than mine.
I simply share what others told me — then it’s up to you to decide.
Time Will Reveal Everything
Whether it’s healing my own chronic condition through moxibustion, or building a business from scratch — one thing is clear to me:
Time reveals everything.
When you follow your heart, with firm belief and quiet courage, you’ll eventually see results.
It takes bravery to walk alone at first. But the longer you walk, the more people will start to follow. Obstacles will come, yes — but the force pulling you forward is always greater.
One friend told me she had just started promoting moxibustion. She found it difficult, but after reading my blog posts, she felt encouraged. That’s why I keep sharing — to reach people who feel the same, who understand the heart behind it.
This Is Why I Keep Doing What I Do
I’ve stuck with moxibustion for all these years because I followed my inner feeling.
What others say, what books say — those are just clouds.
My body is my most loyal companion.
Despite setbacks and pain, I eventually healed my chronic illness.
That alone is enough. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.
I follow my heart — not to impress others, but to fully become myself.
I follow my heart — to live the brightest, boldest version of me.
